The local currency is the « Kyat ». Since 2011, the exchange rate has been stabilised by the government and is now traded at the local banks. You can easily change at the airport or consult with your guide when you are on the road.

To this day and due to the International embargo, credit cards are not being accepted in the country. Therefore, please bring enough cash for all your personal expenses. The USD is the preferred currency and accepted throughout Myanmar.

Be sure to ask your banks for new notes as the banks could refuse them if dirty or damaged.
